Whenever the guerrilla army of 10 youths managed to somehow outsmart the occupying Reds they’d raise their rifles, AK-74s liberated from the invaders, and yell “Wolverines!”
The movie was fiction but the concept, the United States invaded, is a real threat today as a result of a lack of border security.
Let’s get one thing straight before you all start typing strong letters about our lack of caring about our fellow man. Have you looked at the film of the waves of people coming across our southern border? You’ll find that there are plenty of unaccompanied military age males in the mix. We estimated 10,000 terrorists could be here just as a result of the porous border, and that figure is based on apprehensions not on what the government calls “got-aways.” We’re sure the got-away number is even higher, but the more conservative number is still frightening.
The “It Can’t Happen Here” crowd is dining on crow after the invasion of Israel by Hamas. If an action of that severity can happen in what is supposed to be the most secured country in the world we’re in a world of hurt here in the open-bordered USA.
How protected is our infrastructure? Stop laughing and answer! Of course the answer is little if any protection against terrorism is in place to protect our infrastructure much less hardening it against EMP.
We are a nation whose lives depend on technology. Unless you’re living off the grid in a cabin or cottage somewhere in the forest with a non-mechanized farm and the ability to take care of all your needs locally you’re in the same mess as the rest of us.
And remember, within hours of whatever calamity occurs to make city life untenable there will be gangs of folks with no food or water except what they take from you. And they will take it if they can.
But let’s suppose you are prepared, have plenty of stored food, water, and ammunition. Will it be enough? Some experts estimate recovery from loss of the power grid as a result of an EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) would take months to years.
Without power you can’t pump fuel (or charge Teslas), so forget trucking in supplies or getting a long distance from where you are. If you don’t already have enough fuel to get where you want to go you probably won’t get there. If you live in a city, farming is not going to be a viable option.
Unless you’re a farmer or have a years worth of food stored to carry you until your first crop, have a place picked out and prepared to be your rustic farm including a water supply, shelter, and farming tools, you’re screwed too.
That’s dark. What’s the solution?
We discussed closing the border here so we won’t go back through that. We need a solution to the illegals already here. It’s no longer a matter of cheap tomatoes or willing voters; it’s a matter of national survival now.
We must secure and harden infrastructure. How do you do that?
Protecting infrastructure from electromagnetic pulse (EMP) events, whether caused by a high-altitude nuclear detonation (HEMP) or solar flares (GMD - Geomagnetic Disturbances), is a complex task that requires a combination of planning, engineering solutions, and adherence to established standards. Here are some strategies and methods used to protect infrastructure from EMP:
• Shielding: Critical infrastructure components, especially electronic systems, can be shielded to protect them from EMP effects.
• Surge Arrestors: Surge arrestors can be installed in power lines and communication systems to prevent voltage surges caused by EMP from damaging connected equipment.
• Hardening: EMP-hardened electronics and components are specifically designed to withstand the effects of EMP.
• Distributed Redundancy: Redundancy in critical systems ensures that if one component fails due to EMP, there are backup systems in place to maintain essential functions.
• Grounding: Proper grounding of infrastructure components can help in dissipating excess electrical energy safely.
• EMP Protection Standards: Adherence to established EMP protection standards, such as MIL-STD-188-125 and IEEE standards, provides guidelines for designing and testing EMP-resistant systems.
Please remember that these steps will protect your personal or business infrastructure; however, the network that provides you with electricity or internet may be damaged as a result of those providers not properly protecting them. The end result is that your equipment survives but is useless because you have no power or internet or there is no mail or package delivery to move your product. You get the idea. Your personal preparedness may be an exercise in futility if the power company and the communications company and the government haven’t properly prepared.
And service interruption doesn’t have to be a natural disaster. There is still the issue of those with bad intentions towards the USA. We include the uptick in activity by Iran and Hezbollah and Hamas, fueled by a hefty infusion of cash by the President. Add in the continued smuggling of fentanyl into the country by Mexican cartels after they make it from precursor products from China, and we have two more countries that aren’t our friends.
By no means last but certainly least you have the absolute infantile attitude of the whole elected US government who are looking for political power instead of protecting the country while they delegate all authority to a bureaucracy whose only interest is in increasing the bureaucracy.
This isn’t the United States that we remember, that we fought for, that our friends died for, and it never will be again. It can, however, be the shining city on the hill that Ronald Reagan saw.
How to start?
Require that public utilities have physical security and EMP protection plans enacted and implemented quickly. Give them tax incentives to get the job done and hefty fines if they don’t. Don’t take no for an answer.
Close the borders. We’ve already discussed this, so ‘nuff said.
Regain control of the Federal government. Do this by repealing the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978 which authorized federal unions in the first place. There’s too much power in union bosses hands. Modify contracts so that Federal employees can be fired the same as everyone else. Repeal the law that requires paying Federal employees after a shutdown. A government shutdown is the same as a private sector layoff. You don’t get paid. If the employees get paid it makes the effect of shutdown more public relations than actual problem. There’s no impetus to getting government moving again if you’re not losing votes by keeping it closed.
Require that the legislative branch take back decision-making authority from the bureaucracy. We elect folks to do the work of government, not to delegate to non-elected bureaucrats.
Close Federal departments that are not authorized in the Constitution. We keep hearing that the 50 states are petri dishes for how to do government right and that a good idea will be adopted. We agree, so why should a one-size-fits-all solution be implemented for education or drug enforcement? Politicians have a lot of federal agencies they say they’d like to disband. Why not just do it? You can go here and find all the federal departments, centers, agencies, boards, etc.. How many are really needed?
Transfer the 87,000 IRS agents and 75% of BATF agents to the Border Patrol where they’re actually needed and enforce all immigration laws. Or better yet, close the IRS (tax collection can be done by the states as it already is). Get rid of BATFE, as it enforces laws that are unconstitutional on their face. Additionally (A)lcohol, (T)obacco, (F)irearms, and (E)xplosives control and regulation are state issues and not federal. Regulations on these things should be local reflecting the needs and desires of the population not the opinion of a bureaucrat in Washington.
There’s another topic that will need a whole article unto itself, but suffice to say the 2nd Amendment isn’t there to protect hunting, it’s there to protect a response to a tyrannical government.
Please remember that big things can happen as a result of the actions of a small group of dedicated people. A dedicated minority can accomplish miracles. If you need proof, please remember the American Revolution never had more than 25% of the population supporting it.
WOLVERINES!
